New poll says that 90% of Americans still believe “In God We Trust”. Whereas, only 10% of Americans believe “In our Government We Trust.
What is Trust? Webster defines it as, “a firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something.” Now if you were to ask my generation to tell you what trust is, the first thing that comes to our minds is a thing called a “Trust Fall.” Maybe you’ve participated in one of these at a summer camp, youth retreat, leadership conference, or maybe even off the back of a pick-up(don’t try this at home). A Trust Fall can be described as a purported trust-building activity often conducted as a group exercise in which a person deliberately allows themselves to fall, relying on the other members of the group aka (spotters) to catch the person. The entire purpose of the activity is to, yep you guessed it, Build trust. Why do I bring this up? Well today is Good Friday, and as I think of the significance of my savior today, the first thing that comes to mind is trust. You see, I believe that when Jesus went to the cross, he took the ultimate trust fall for us. He willingly allowed himself to take the fall that you and I were suppose to take. He put His trust in God, without hesitation, and then fell for you and me. Only to be caught 3 days later by the resurrection power of Almighty God. 🙂
The Bottomline:
When we begin to Trust, we then Discover Hope! Jesus took the fall for you and me, so that we wouldn’t have to fall. But the more I think about it, I am falling. Falling deeper and deeper in Love with my Savior! And that’s a Trust-Fall I want to take! Because His Love will always Catch you. 🙂
